The SSU counterintelligence has detained another individual who was guiding russian strikes in Kharkiv region. He turned out to be an employee of a well-known retail network in Poltava who had been recruited by the enemy.

As the investigation revealed, following instructions from the FSB, the suspect would board a passenger bus during his off-duty hours and travel to Kharkiv region. From the bus window, the agent monitored the Defense Forces’ bases and routes and documented the damage caused by enemy strikes on the Poltava-Kharkiv highway.

He first recorded the locations he identified using his phone camera, and then marked their coordinates on Google Maps to ‘report’ to his handler from russia.

It was documented that, to maintain secrecy, the suspect deleted his messages with a russian intelligence officer after each communication session.

It has been established that the ruscists hoped to use the spotter’s reconnaissance data to prepare a new series of missile and bomb strikes on the region.

SSU counterintelligence officers uncovered the enemy's plan, took measures to secure the Defense Forces' locations, and detained the agent at his residence in Poltava.

According to the case file, the man came to the attention of russian intelligence while looking for ‘easy money’ on Telegram channels.

After being recruited, the suspect created several accounts and nicknames on different phone numbers, which he constantly changed for encrypted communication with his FSB handler.

During a search, the detainee was seized of a smartphone and computer equipment containing evidence of his work for the enemy.

SSU investigators have served the agent with a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (treason committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody. He faces life imprisonment with the confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by SSU officers in Cherkasy and Poltava regions under the procedural supervision of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
