SSU detains FSB agent guiding russian attacks at Rivne region and preparing to carry out assassinations
The SSU Counterintelligence has detained another agent of russia’s federal security service in the Rivne region. Acting on the enemy’s orders, the perpetrator was adjusting russian shelling of the western region and preparing to physically eliminate servicemen of the Defence Forces.
The investigation established that the agent was a local unemployed man. He came to russia’s attention when he posted anti-Ukrainian comments in the chat rooms of Telegram channels.
After the recruitment, the asset began tracking the bases of Ukrainian defenders, which the enemy was targeting with missile and drone attacks.
To identify the locations of military installations, he rode around the area on his motorbike and filmed the surrounding area using a dashcam mounted on his helmet.
The traitor also granted the FSB remote access to his smartphone and messaging app accounts, to which he uploaded the coordinates of potential ‘targets’.
Later, the perpetrator requested weapons and ammunition from his handler to carry out contract killings of Ukrainian servicemen in the Rivne region.
He also attempted to obtain a drone to conduct aerial reconnaissance of the Defence Forces’ positions.
The SSU caught the agent ‘red-handed’ when he was conducting reconnaissance near a Ukrainian military installation.
During searches, a dashcam, computer equipment and a mobile phone containing evidence of his work for the FSB were seized from the suspect.
SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in the Rivne region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
