SSU detains FSB agent who tried to burn power substation supplying hospital and military units in Kirovohrad region
In Kropyvnytskyi, the SSU has apprehended another agent of russia’s federal security service. He was preparing a series of arson attacks on key energy facilities to cut off power to local military units and medical institutions.
The SSU caught the traitor in the act when he was conducting reconnaissance near a power substation that supplies the regional hospital and several units of the Defence Forces. The individual planned to set fire to this power facility.
According to the investigation, the enemy agent is a 30-year-old local unemployed man who was looking for ‘quick money’ on Telegram channels.
After remote recruitment, he reconnoitered the locations of major energy generating facilities and collected data on their technical condition and security.
The asset sent the information to his russian handler to get an ‘approval’ for the arson.
The agent also passed on to the occupiers the geolocation of a possible base of Ukrainian defenders, on which the enemy planned to carry out air strikes.
The suspect’s mobile phone with evidence of working for the FSB was seized during searches.
SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kirovohrad region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
