SSU detains FSB agent guiding russian strikes on Defence Forces positions near Druzhkivka, Donetsk region

The SSU Counterintelligence has detained another agent of russia’s federal security service in Donetsk region who was directing russian strikes on Druzhkivka.

According to the investigation, a local unemployed man recruited by the enemy was responsible for directing the attacks. He came to the FSB’s attention through an acquaintance of his who lives in russia and collaborates with the russian intelligence services.

After receiving instructions, the asset began tracking the positions of Ukrainian artillery, the locations of fortifications and mobile air defence groups defending the frontline community.

To do this, the perpetrator walked in the area and marked the coordinates of potential ‘targets’ on a topographical map.

He stored the information he gathered on his smartphone for subsequent transmission to his FSB handler.

The SSU uncovered the agent and documented his reconnaissance activities. Simultaneously, action was taken to protect the locations of the Defence Forces in the Kramatorsk area.

The suspect’s mobile phone was seized; he had used it to gather intelligence and maintain contact with the FSB.

SSU investigators notified the detainee of his status as a suspect under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
