SSU detains FSB agent who spied on sites where Ukrainian Armed Forces train for counteroffensive

As a result of counter-sabotage efforts in Dnipropetrovsk oblast, the SSU detained another enemy agent.

On the FSB’s instructions, he collected intelligence on locations of the Defence Forces in Dnipro, Kamianske and Novomoskovsk districts.

His main purpose was to obtain information on military training grounds and centres where the AFU units are trained.

The enemy informant tried to identify approximate number of Ukrainian personnel and military equipment preparing for possible deployment to the front.

The FSB paid their asset for each completed assignment, transferring money to a bank card.

As the investigation established, the agent is a 42-year-old local resident. The russian special service recruited him remotely and gave an operational name ‘Geralt’.

The man came to the aggressor’s attention because of his numerous anti-Ukrainian comments in one of the pro-kremlin Telegram channels.

To fulfil the enemy assignments, the traitor walked and covertly surveilled the Defence Forces’ bases.

For secrecy, the russian agent created several anonymous Telegram accounts to transmit collected data to the aggressor.

During the search of the suspect’s home, the SSU found a mobile phone and a computer with evidence of the crime.

The SSU served the detainee a notice of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU).

The suspect is in custody, facing life imprisonment.

The operational and investigative activities were carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
