Zaporizhzhia: SSU detains FSB agent who installed hidden webcams on roads to spy on Ukrainian military convoys (video)

The SSU detained another FSB agent in Zaporizhzhia. The offender was collecting intelligence on the movement routes and the number of equipment and military personnel of the Defense Forces deployed to the front line.

One of the first traitor’s tasks was to gather information about the local SSU Office. In this way, the russian agentcame to the attention of the SSU internal security and counterintelligence divisions which documented his illegal activities.

It has been established that the spy installed hidden webcams along the main roads of the region to track the military convoys.

However, SSU officers timely detected and deactivated the hidden video devices. As a result, the SSU prevented passing intelligence to the aggressor.

The enemy was primarily interested in the convoys of heavy armored vehicles and artillery of the Ukrainian Armed Forces involved in counteroffensive operations on the southern front.

The agent installed webcams in the locations indicated by his FSB supervisor.

To conceal the video devices, he mounted them on lighting poles.

Installed webcams were intended for online streaming of car traffic with remote access to FSB personnel.

The russian special service transferred UAH 30,000 (USD 825) of reward to the agent’s bank card for the execution of an enemy task.

The SSU documented the criminal actions and detained the spy during a technical inspection of one of the webcams.

According to the investigation, the aggressor's accomplice was a local resident. Late September, he contacted a pro-Kremlin channel admin in Telegram and offered him assistance in the war against Ukraine.

Having received the "offer", the russian admin contacted the offender via messenger with a representative of the FSB.

As a result, the traitor received from the aggressor not only the subversive tasks but also detailed instructions on how to carry them out.

During the search of the detainee's home, a new webcam was found, which he planned to install to record the movements of the Defense Forces. A mobile phone used by the suspect to communicate with the FSB was also seized.

The detainee was served a notice of suspicion under Article 15.2, 111.2 of the CCU (attempted high treason committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody, facing life imprisonment. The investigation is ongoing.

The Main Directorate for Internal Security, the Counterintelligence Department, and the SSU Office in Zaporizhzhia region carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of Zaporizhzhia Region Prosecutor’s Office.
