SSU detains FSB agent who used his mother unwittingly to spy on Donetsk region defenders (video)
The SSU Counterintelligence has apprehended another enemy agent in Donetsk region. On the orders of russia’s federal security service, he adjusted russian strikes on the frontline town of Druzhkivka and its suburbs.
According to the investigation, the occupiers’ tasks were carried out by a 41-year-old local resident who was hiding from mobilisation and waiting for a complete occupation of the region. He came to russia’s attention when he wrote to a chatbot run by russian intelligence services about his wish to cooperate.
While evading conscription, the man hardly ever left home. Therefore, in order to collect coordinates of potential ‘targets’, he deceived his mother, who was unaware of his work for the FSB.
It has been documented how the woman walked through the city while receiving humanitarian aid and, at her son’s request, paid attention at the locations of Ukrainian defenders.
After returning home, the traitor questioned her about the Defence Forces locations and movement of military convoys towards the front line.
He immediately passed the information he obtained to his FSB handler, who had remotely recruited the draft dodger and instructed him to help guide russian attacks.
Using the asset, the occupiers hoped to identify and shell positions of Ukrainian troops.
The SSU Counterintelligence detained the agent at his place of residence. Simultaneously, action was taken to protect the locations of the Defence Forces.
A smartphone with evidence of working for the FSB was seized from the suspect during the search.
SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The perpetrator is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
