SSU detains FSB agent about to pass information on Cherkasy region’s defense to ruscists

In Cherkasy, the SSU Counterintelligence has apprehended another agent of russia’s federal security service. The perpetrator tried to sell classified information about military facilities in Cherkasy region to the enemy in order to adjust russian strikes on these installations.

The enemy accomplice is a 36-year-old local resident, recruited by the russian special service through Telegram.

According to the investigation, the traitor used his acquaintance in the military, from whom he obtained a service flash drive with information on one of the military objects in the region.

He also spied on mobile air defense teams protecting the region’s airspace and informed the FSB on the consequences of enemy strikes.

The SSU Counterintelligence detained the agent while he was preparing his report for russia.

A phone with evidence of his work for the adversary was seized during the search.

SSU investigators notified him of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Cherkasy region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
