SSU detains GRU agent who guided strikes on Kramatorsk and set fire to Ukrainian armored personnel carrier
The Security Service has exposed yet another agent of russia’s military intelligence (the GRU) in Donetsk region.
As the investigation revealed, he transmitted coordinates for new attacks on Kramatorsk and tracked down Ukrainian Defence Forces armoured vehicles to set them on fire.
The agent turned out to be a member of a local group that engaged in looting at sites of enemy strikes.
He came to the GRU’s attention through Telegram channels, where he posted comments supporting the kremlin regime.
In exchange for money, the asset agreed to direct shelling at the district center and set fire to Ukrainian defenders’ military equipment.
To guide airstrikes, he walked in the frontline town and monitored areas where Defense Forces personnel were concentrated.
The traitor also tracked down and set fire to an armoured vehicle of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that carried out combat missions on the front lines.
The SSU detained him at his home. Concurrently, Defence Forces locations, which the enemy had reconnoitered, were secured.
A smartphone, which the agent used to collect intelligence and communicate with his russian handler, was seized during the search.
SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law). The suspect is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
