SSU detains enemy agent preparing missile attacks on military hospitals and airfields in Donetsk region
The SSU Counterintelligence has apprehended another enemy agent who adjusted russian missile and drone strikes on Donetsk oblast.
The aggressor’s targets were military hospitals and other medical facilities where Ukrainian defenders were undergoing treatment and rehabilitation.
The occupiers also hoped to reconnoiter locations of operational airfields in the region.
To obtain the coordinates for the attacks, the russian intelligence recruited a resident of Kramatorsk. The man came to their attention because of his anti-Ukrainian comments on russian social media.
Further communication between the asset and his handler was carried out in a messenger app, both used code names for conspiracy.
However, the SSU identified the russian ‘supervisor’ and his agent in Donetsk region and documented the crime.
The handler sent the agent Google maps of the areas he was interested in. The informant put the collected data on the maps, added descriptions and passed this to the russian intelligence service.
The SSU detained the traitor in his home. The investigators seized his phone and computer equipment, used for communication with the aggressor.
The detained individual was notified of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
