SSU detains enemy agent who tried to gain trust of Ukrainian soldiers to adjust russian strikes on them
The SSU Counterintelligence has detained another enemy agent in Kharkiv region. The perpetrator tracked the coordinates of the Defence Forces, which the russians used to prepare strikes with heavy bombs, FPV drones and artillery.
The enemy was most interested in the locations of units of the AFU 3rd Army Corps, which are defending one of the most important sectors of the eastern front – Izium.
The investigation established that responsible for adjusting enemy fire was a 35-year-old local handyman, who collaborated with russian special services.
To gather intelligence, he tried to gain trust of Ukrainian soldiers by offering to help them with daily supplies.
Doing so, the agent took photos and videos of places where there was a significant concentration of Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel and military equipment and marked them on Google Maps.
The SSU identified the traitor at the initial stage of his intelligence activities, documented his crimes, and took action to protect the positions of Ukrainian troops in this sector.
At the final stage of the special operation, the suspect was detained. A smartphone containing photo and video files with AFU installations, which he was preparing to send to his handler, was seized from him.
SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Kharkiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
