SSU detains agent of russian and belarusian intelligence who adjusted attacks on Kyiv’s cogeneration power plants (video)
In Kyiv, the Security Service of Ukraine has detained an agent who was working for both russian and belarusian intelligence services. At the order of the Belarusian Border Committee, he spied on the locations of the Defence Forces, and on instructions from russia – adjusted ruscist attacks on energy facilities in Kyiv region.
Using the asset’s data, the occupiers hoped to disable key power-generating enterprises that heat most of Kyiv’s housing stock and social infrastructure.
It was documented that the traitor first observed the perimeter of a combined heat and power plant from his apartment.
He then conducted further reconnaissance near this facility to assess its technical condition after a recent enemy strike.
The agent sent the collected information to his handlers for further attacks on the capital’s co-generation power plant.
Upon completion of his assignments, he expected to be extracted outside Ukraine. To this end, he prepared a tactical backpack containing essential items, which he planned to use when crossing the border illegally.
However, the SSU uncovered the perpetrator’s intentions at an early stage and detained him in Kyiv. Simultaneously, action was taken to protect potential targets.
According to the investigation, the enemy accomplice is a local handyman who was recruited by the russian and belarusian intelligence services through Telegram channels, where he posted pro-kremlin comments.
SSU investigators have now notified him of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU – high treason, committed under martial law. The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
