SSU detains FSB agent – ‘chemist’ preparing arson attacks on Ukrainian defenders’ cars in Dnipro
In Dnipro city, the SSU cyber units and investigators apprehended an agent of russia’s federal security service. He adjusted enemy attacks and prepared arsons of military vehicles in the region.
According to the investigation, his initial task was to identify coordinates of the AFU units in Dnipropetrovsk region and to record consequences of russian strikes on Dnipro.
After some time, his FSB handler gave a new assignment: to carry out a series of arson attacks on vehicles of the Defence Forces and Ukrzaliznytsia [Ukrainian railways] facilities.
Following the occupiers’ instructions, the perpetrator made an incendiary device using flammable mixtures, a detonator and a remote control module.
At a certain time, the agent was to place the device under a vehicle of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and remotely activate it.
Before committing the attack, he checked the device near a railway track and informed his russian handler.
In case of successful destruction of the potential target, the asset was to continue to destroy defenders’ vehicles and railway relay cabinets.
The SSU cyber units uncovered the traitor at an early stage, documented his crimes and detained him.
According to the investigation, the enemy agent is a 48-year-old locksmith from a local enterprise with a practical knowledge of chemistry.
He came to the attention of the russian intelligence as an active user of russian Telegram channels, where he left comments in support of russia’s war against Ukraine.
During the searches, a mobile phone with evidence of his work for russia was seized from the detainee.
SSU investigators served him a notice of suspicion under Article 111 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The investigation is ongoing. The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
