SSU detains FSB agents preparing terrorist attacks against local council members in Khmelnytskyi region
The SSU Counterintelligence has apprehended two FSB agents who were preparing explosives for terrorist attacks against eight deputies of Kamianets-Podilskyi City Council in Khmelnytskyi region.
The perpetrators were making improvised explosive devices to be placed under the cars of potential victims and detonated.
In this way, the ruscists planned to destabilize the socio-political situation and spread panic among local population.
The SSU uncovered the enemy intentions at an early stage and detained the agents when they were manufacturing explosives in a rented apartment in the city center.
According to the investigation, one of the executors of the russian order is a 24-year-old local drug addict who was looking for money for a ‘dose’ on Telegram channels.
There she was recruited by an officer of russia’s federal security service, who gave her a test task – to set fire to three administrative buildings of village councils in the region.
To commit the arsons, the girl involved her 57-year-old partner, who accompanied her to the target locations as a driver.
They then received instructions from the occupiers on how to make an IED, as well as money to purchase explosive components and rent a safe house.
Later, the pair was to identify the cars of the deputies and conduct additional reconnaissance near them to plant the explosive devices.
Components for bombs and mobile phones with evidence of working for the FSB were seized during searches.
SSU investigators served the detained individuals notices of suspicion under Articles 28.2, 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law, by a group, upon prior conspiracy).
The suspects are in custody without bail and face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
