The SSU Counterintelligence has foiled another terrorist attack in Kherson. As a result of preemptive actions, two FSB agents, who were preparing an attack on the local National Police unit, have been apprehended.

On russia’s behalf, they were to blow up several official vehicles with Ukrainian law enforcement personnel. If the enemy assets carried out the assignment, russia’s federal security service promised the extract them to russia.

According to the investigation, two local unemployed men were involved in preparing the terrorist attack. They came to the enemy’s attention on a pro-russian Telegram channel.

After recruitment, they rented an apartment near the National Police building. The perpetrators then installed a hidden video camera on the balcony of their temporary accommodation, surveilling the restricted-access building.

Using this observation point, the agents were tracking the police officers’ schedule and movements in the police vehicles.

The group plotted to attach under-vehicle improvised explosive devices to the cars, intending to detonate them remotely once the officials were inside.

The perpetrators were to manufacture the bombs for the attack from components that the FSB planned to deliver to them by drones from the left bank of Kherson region.

The SSU uncovered the enemy’s plan at an early stage, documented the crime, and detained the traitors in their rented accommodation. Video equipment, laptops, and smartphones with evidence of working for russia were seized during the searches.

It was also established that the agents had tried to identify locations of the Defence Forces in Kherson and had been seeking new recruits for their cell.

SSU investigators have notified the detainees of suspicion under Articles 28.2 and 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed by a group, upon prior conspiracy, under martial law).

The suspects are in custody and face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kherson region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
