SSU detains FSB agents who spied on prominent volunteers and officials of international organizations in Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine has dismantled an agent network of russia’s federal security service, which was collecting information on officials of international organizations and volunteers in Kyiv, Dnipro and Odesa.

To establish the addresses, license plates, and routes of the target individuals, the FSB recruited a Kyiv lawyer remotely.

He involved several accomplices from three Ukrainian regions in the criminal activity.

On the enemy’s instructions, the perpetrators covertly surveilled the ‘targets’, including with the use of optical devices.

For example, the head (or resident) of the agent group periodically set up observation posts and used binoculars on the roofs of houses opposite the offices of international organizations and volunteers.

He summarized the data from all members of the cell and sent a single report to his russian handler, an FSB officer.

The SSU timely detained the head of the group and his accomplices in Kyiv.

While documenting the crime, the Service established that the spies had also adjusted missile strikes on defense plants and energy facilities in Ukraine.

During the searches, the investigators seized 15 mobile phones used by the agents for covert communication with the russians, as well as optics and flash drives with evidence of the crime.

The SSU notified the detainees of suspicion under Articles 28.2, 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law, by a group, upon prior conspiracy).

The suspects are in custody and face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The investigation is ongoing to bring to justice all members of the enemy cell.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
