SSU detains FSB agent preparing double terrorist attack in Mykolaiv residential area
The Security Service of Ukraine has foiled another attempt of russia to carry out a bloody terrorist attack in Mykolaiv. As a result of a special operation, the SSU detained an enemy agent preparing a double explosion in one of the city’s residential areas.
Following the occupiers’ instructions, the perpetrator was to install an improvised explosive device under the hood of a car parked in the yard in order to detonate it remotely.
After law enforcement, ambulances and rescuers arrived at the scene, the ruscists planned to activate a second bomb hidden nearby.
It was another IED, which the woman concealed on a tree a few meters from the car and additionally equipped with metal nuts to enhance the destructive effect.
Using such a trap, the enemy hoped to kill and seriously injure as many people as possible and thereby provoke panic in the city.
The SSU was proactive and prevented the attack. The agent was identified at an early stage, her crimes – documented. The suspect was detained when she tried to place the IED under a car during curfew.
According to the investigation, the terrorist is a 33-year-old resident of Dnipropetrovsk region recruited by russia’s federal security service in February this year via a Telegram channel offering ‘easy money’.
SSU investigators have served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Articles 15.2, 258.1 of the CCU (completed attempted terrorist act).
The suspect is in custody without bail and faces up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Mykolaiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
