The SSU Counterintelligence has detained a woman who was helping the enemy target the Cherkasy and Poltava regions. Acting on orders from russia’s federal security service, the agent guided russian strikes against energy infrastructure, government and critical infrastructure facilities in central Ukraine.

The investigation revealed that the spotter was an unemployed resident of the Cherkasy region. She came to the attention of the russian intelligence services whilst searching for ‘easy’ money on Telegram.

After the recruitment, the woman began to regularly travel by train to a neighbouring region to identify and pass on to the FSB the coordinates of energy facilities, Ukrainian air defence positions and administrative buildings of state institutions.

To this end, the agent walked around the area under the guise of going for a stroll, covertly filming potential ‘targets’ on her phone.

In the Cherkasy region, the perpetrator was tracking the locations of reserve command posts and other sites where Defence Forces personnel and equipment were concentrated.

During reconnaissance, she photographed and filmed the external facades of military facilities.

The Security Service detained the agent immediately after she had photographed the outer perimeter of a Defence Forces building.

A smartphone containing evidence of her activity on the FSB’s behalf was seized from her during the search.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in the Cherkasy region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
