SSU detains GRU agent who adjusted russian strikes on Odesa and collected information on Ukrainian military personnel
The Security Service of Ukraine has detained another agent of russian military intelligence (‘the GRU’) in Odesa. The perpetrator passed the coordinates of local Defence Forces installations to enemy and photographed license plates of cars parked near these buildings.
The occupiers could use this information not only to plan new attacks on the region, but also to carry out terrorist attacks on military personnel who used these vehicles.
The investigation established that the enemy accomplice was a woman, a local entrepreneur. She came to the aggressor’s attention through an acquaintance who lives in russia and works for the GRU.
According to the SSU Main Directorate of Internal Security, the potential targets were units of the SSU and the Armed Forces of Ukraine involved in combat operations on the southern front.
The SSU detained the traitor red-handed while she was photographing vehicles near a defence facility.
A smartphone, on which she stored intelligence and coordinated her actions with the GRU, was seized from her during searches.
SSU investigators notified her of her suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operational and investigative activities were carried out under the procedural supervision of Odesa Region Prosecutor’s Office.
