SSU detains GRU agent who manufactured explosive devices for terrorist attacks in Odesa region on russia’s order
In Odesa region, the SSU Counterintelligence has detained another agent of russian military intelligence (‘the GRU’). The woman was manufacturing improvised explosive devices for terrorist attacks in the south of Ukraine on the occupiers’ orders.
The perpetrator is a 36-year-old unemployed woman from Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, recruited by the aggressor through Telegram channels offering ‘easy money’.
The agent first received the geolocations of caches from her handler, from which she got plastic explosives.
The asset worked with the explosives in a rented apartment, adding nuts and bolts to them and connecting mobile phones to the IEDs for remote detonation.
The woman put the finished munitions in caches, the coordinates of which she received from her russian handler.
Such hiding places with the bombs were intended for other enemy agents who agreed to carry out terrorist attacks.
It was established that a 21-year-old internally displaced person from Donetsk region used one of the caches. In January this year, on russia’s order, she was preparing explosions near an administrative building of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Odesa region and a car parked nearby.
The terrorist was detained immediately after planting an IED near the building.
After learning about this, the agent who made the bomb went into hiding.
However, the SSU Counterintelligence still got on the trail of the suspect and detained her.
Her phone with evidence of working for the aggressor state was seized during searches.
SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 258.2 of the CCU - terrorist act, committed upon prior conspiracy by a group.
The suspect is in custody without bail and faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The operation was conducted by the SSU Office in Odesa region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
