SSU detains enemy agent preparing double terrorist attack in Odesa region

The SSU has foiled an attempt of russian intelligence services to carry out a bloody terrorist attack in Odesa region. Due to proactive efforts, the SSU detained an agent who was preparing a simultaneous explosion at the administrative building of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a car parked nearby.

The SSU uncovered the traitor at an early stage and secured the scene, which helped to avoid casualties and neutralize the consequences of the detonation of one of the explosive devices, which was remotely activated by the occupiers from russia.

According to the investigation, the perpetrator of the attack is a 21-year-old woman from the frontline city of Kostiantynivka in Donetsk region, recruited remotely by two representatives of russian intelligence services.

On their instructions, the agent arrived in Odesa region and rented an apartment, where she then manufactured the explosives.

The basis for the IEDs was plastic explosive, which she took from a previously prepared cache. To maximize the damage, the woman stuffed it with nuts and used a mobile phone for remote detonation.

Immediately after planting the bombs, the suspect was detained by the SSU Counterintelligence.

The occupiers promised her money for committing the terrorist attack, but instead she got a suspicion notice from SSU investigators under Article 258.2 of the CCU (terrorist act, committed upon prior conspiracy).

The enemy accomplice is in custody and faces up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Offices in Odesa and Kharkiv regions under the procedural supervision of Odesa Region Prosecutor’s Office.
