SSU detains enemy agent attempting to blow up policeman’s car in Dnipro
The SSU Counterintelligence has foiled another attempt by russian special services to carry out a terrorist attack in Dnipro. As a result of pre-emptive action in the frontline city, an enemy agent who was preparing to blow up a National Police official’s car has been detained.
The SSU caught the perpetrator red-handed as she was planting an improvised explosive device under the officer’s car in one of the city’s residential areas.
At the moment of her arrest, russian special services attempted to remotely activate the explosive device to blow up the car along with their accomplice. However, the SSU had neutralized the IED and prevented its detonation.
The aggressor’s accomplice turned out to be a 38-year-old drug addict from Kharkiv who came to russia’s attention when she was looking for money for a dose on Telegram channels.
After recruitment, a handler from russia sent her to Dnipro, where she first took the prepared explosives, hidden in a backpack, from a cache. Then, following the coordinates provided by the handler, the woman went to the location where the bomb was supposed to be planted.
SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Articles 15.2 and 258.2 of the CCU (attempted terrorist act).
The suspect is in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
