SSU detains agent adjusting online russia’s massive attack on Kharkiv on April 2

The SSU Counterintelligence has detained a spotter who adjusted russia’s large-scale shelling of Kharkiv on April 2 this year. The perpetrator was guiding new russian Geran-3 kamikaze drones at the city in real time.

The SSU apprehended the suspect red-handed in a city park while she was livestreaming the second wave of UAV strikes on residential buildings in the city.

A smartphone with remote access for the russian intelligence was seized from the detainee. Using the device, the aggressor state guided the drones toward Kharkiv residents’ apartment buildings.

As the investigation established, the spotter is local resident recruited by the enemy. She came to the occupiers’ attention after her pro-russian comments on Telegram channels.

Following her handler’s instructions, the asset went to document the aftermath of the shelling immediately after the nighttime attack on the frontline city.

That same day, she received the next task: to film russian drones during daytime strikes on Kharkiv.

In this way, the ruscists intended to assess the effectiveness of their drones and identify the positions of Ukrainian air defence systems.

It has been established that the agent received approximate directions of the airstrikes from her handler so she could arrive at the ‘position’ in advance and record the strikes online.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kharkiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
