SSU detains enemy agent whom ruscists planned to blow up in crowded place in Dnipropetrovsk region
The SSU Counterintelligence has prevented a terrorist attack in one of the largest industrial centers of Ukraine – Kamianske in Dnipropetrovsk region.
As a result of the special operation, the Security Service of Ukraine apprehended an agent of russian special services who, on the instructions of her handler, prepared an improvised explosive device to blow it up on the territory of the community.
The woman thought that after making the IED she would pass the bomb to another person or hide it in a cache.
However, the aggressor’s plan was to bring the agent to a crowded place in the city during rush hour and blow her up together with the bomb.
In this way, the russians hoped to kill as many people as possible and cause panic among the population.
The SSU Counterintelligence exposed the enemy intentions at an early stage and detained the agent when she was synthesizing the explosive for the IED.
According to the investigation, the perpetrator is a 22-year-old drug addict from Bakhmut who had moved first to Kharkiv region and then to Dnipropetrovsk region.
Later, she started looking for ‘quick money’ on Telegram, where she was recruited by an officer of russian special services. After completing a ‘test’ task – setting fire to a relay cabinet – he instructed the girl to prepare a bloody terrorist attack.
For secrecy purposes, the terrorist moved to a rented apartment, which she paid for from her handler’s crypto wallet.
On enemy instructions, the agent purchased a thermos in which she was to put the explosive and add nails to increase destructive effect.
Components for making IEDs and a mobile phone with evidence of work for russia were found during searches.
SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Articles 14.1, 258.2 of the CCU (preparation to commit a terrorist act).
The suspect is in custody and faces up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural supervision of Kryvyi Rih Specialized Defense Prosecutor’s Office of the Eastern Region.
