SSU detains enemy agent who spied on Chernihiv defenders during taxi rides

The SSU has apprehended another agent of russia’s military intelligence (‘the GRU’) in Chernihiv. This is a 16-year-old local girl who was recruited by russia and who helped the occupiers prepare a new air strike on the region.

To evade Ukrainian air defences, the agent had to identify and pass to the aggressor the coordinates of the AFU anti-aircraft missile systems and radar stations protecting the border region.

To hide her reconnaissance raids, the girl would order a taxi and travel around the area secretly recording the targets.

After such trips, she returned home and prepared a report with data for her russian handler in the form of media files with the geolocations.

The SSU Military Counterintelligence uncovered the traitor, documented the crimes and detained her ‘red-handed’ while she was taking photos of a defence facility.

The investigators established that the suspect had been in direct contact with a GRU officer, communicating with him via an anonymous chat in a messenger app.

During the searches, a mobile phone with evidence of intelligence-gathering and sabotage against Ukraine was seized.

Based on the evidence, SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Chernihiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
