SSU detains GRU agents who adjusted strikes on Ukraine from their relatives’ accounts
The SSU Counterintelligence has detained another two agents of russian military intelligence (‘the GRU’) who prepared enemy missile and drone strikes on Ukraine’s northern regions.
According to the case, the perpetrators are two women from Pryluky district. The russians recruited them remotely when they were looking for quick money on Telegram. Their main task was to identify and transmit the coordinates of the Defense Forces in Kyiv and Chernihiv regions.
To conceal contacts with the GRU, they communicated with the russian handler through the accounts of their relatives.
To spy on the Defense Forces, the traitors had to install hidden video cameras near the target buildings with recording on flash drives.
The aggressor’s accomplices also tried to establish the routes of movement and combat positions of mobile air defense groups protecting the airspace in the area.
The SSU Counterintelligence uncovered both agents at an early stage, documented their crimes and detained them before they purchased the mini spy cameras.
During the search, mobile phones with evidence of working for the GRU were seized.
The two detainees have been notified of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspects are in custody and face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Chernihiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
