SSU detains Khmelnytskyi city council official who worked for FSB
The SSU Counterintelligence has detained the head of one of the units of Khmelnytskyi City Council who worked for russia’s FSB.
On the enemy orders, the official collected information on deployment and cantonment of Ukrainian servicemen in the region.
The invaders were most interested in intelligence on the SSU and the Special Operations Forces.
The traitor also tried to identify the addresses of Ukrainian production facilities that make drones for the front line.
The aggressor planned to use this information to prepare missile strikes, sabotage and terrorist attacks.
The SSU timely uncovered the ruscists’ plans and detained the suspect ‘red-handed’ when he tried to pass the intelligence to the russians right from his office.
The man came to the attention of the FSB back when he studied at the Bauman moscow technical university in the 1990s.
After the start of the full-scale invasion, he was contacted by an FSB officer, who involved him in reconnaissance and sabotage against Ukraine.
Anonymous chats in messengers were used for communication.
Based on the evidence, SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Khmelnytskyi region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
