SSU detains ‘opposition platform – for life’ deputy who worked for FSB in Donetsk region
The SSU Counterintelligence has detained another member of an FSB agent network operating in eastern Ukraine. The perpetrator is a member of Druzhkivka Town Council from the banned opposition platform – for life party.
Before detaining the traitor, the SSU documented his criminal activity. The investigation established that he was a member of the FSB informant network which the SSU dismantled in March 2023, detaining 4 of his accomplices.
The person in question drove one of the agents in his own car to covertly record the AFU’s defensive positions.
The enemy assets were focused on identifying the geolocations of fortifications, checkpoints and ammunition depots of Ukrainian defenders.
The FSB agents also tried to track the movement of military echelons and identify the railway stations where Ukrainian weapons were unloaded.
After the russian air strikes, they collected information on the consequences of enemy hits.
The occupiers planned to use the data from the network to identify weaknesses in Druzhkivka’s defence.
SSU investigators have served the town council member a notice of suspicion under Article 111-1.7 of the CCU (providing illegal armed or paramilitary groups of the aggressor state with assistance in conducting warfare against the AFU).
The suspect is in custody and faces up to 15 years in prison.
The organizer of the intelligence network has already received a prison term.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
