SSU detains crook who helped 20 Ukrainian conscripts escape abroad
The SSU has detained a resident of Kyiv who organized a scheme of illegal transportation of men of call-up age across the state border.
The investigation established that the individual provided his ‘clients’ with a full package of forged documents, including letters confirming studying at foreign higher education institutions. Such package cost USD 3,500 per person.
Two dozen citizens have used his services. Their identities have been established, and a decision on them will made by the relevant law enforcement agencies.
The SSU documented the suspect receive an advance payment of USD 1,500. After that, the dealer was detained in Kyiv when he was handing over a package of forged documents.
During the searches, the law enforcement seized:
- fakes ready for selling;
- computer equipment and communication devices with evidence of unlawful activity.
The detainee was notified of suspicion under Article 332.3 of the CCU (unlawful transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine).
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kirovohrad region together with the National Police under the procedural supervision of Kirovohrad Region Prosecutor’s Office.
