SSU detains associate professor – FSB agent who adjusted russian strikes on Odesa region and recruited local military personnel

The SSU Military Counterintelligence prevented an FSB agent, who operated in Odesa, from fleeing Ukraine. The woman adjusted russian attacks on the city and recruited AFU servicemen on behalf of the russian special service.

The perpetrator was detained on the eve of her departure to the EU, from where she planned to travel to russia. She already had the bus tickets with her.

According to the investigation, the enemy agent is a 52-year-old associate professor at a local university. The woman came to the ruscists’ attention when she called for the capture of Odesa on the banned social network VKontakte.

For her cooperation, the occupiers promised her a position as a lecturer in russian literature at a moscow university.

One of her assignments in Ukraine was to identify temporary deployment points of the Defence Forces in Odesa region.

The aggressor was also interested in data on operational airfields with combat helicopters and AFU weapons and ammunition depots.

To gather intelligence, the agent tried to gain the trust of Ukrainian soldiers living in the neighbourhood.

She was then tasked with recruiting them into her own network of informants, through which russia’s federal security service planned to spy on the defenders of the southern region.

The SSU thwarted russia’s plans and detained the traitor. Her smartphone and tablet with prepared reports for the FSB were seized during the searches.

SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The special operation was carried out jointly with the SSU Odesa Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
