SSU detains two Ukrainian citizens who agreed to register Starlink for ruscists: now they face life imprisonment (video)
In Odesa region, the SSU Counterintelligence and cyber units exposed two Ukrainian citizens who were recruited by the enemy to illegally register Starlink systems.
According to the investigation, the perpetrators are two residents of Izmail: a 36-year-old unemployed man and his 28-year-old unemployed partner. They were spotted by the russians through Telegram channels offering ‘easy money’.
The aggressor state offered them USD 30 for the illegal registration of each Starlink terminal used by the occupiers.
In order to activate as many of these terminals as possible, the couple tried to recruit more people. It has been established that they intended to recruit a local drug addict to go to the Administrative Services Center.
The SSU acted preemptively and detained both suspects. Mobile phones with evidence of working for russia were seized from them during the searches. The detainees’ phones contained texting with russian handlers, instructions on how to legalise the Starlinks, and agreements on the payment.
Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators notified the two individuals of suspicion under Articles 28.2 and 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law, upon prior conspiracy, by a group).
The crime is punishable by life imprisonment.
Both suspects are in custody.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
The Security Service reminds that assisting the occupiers with the registration of Starlink terminals is a criminal offence.
The enemy acts both directly, posting ads with requests for registration, and resorting to manipulation. This includes posing as Ukrainian military personnel who supposedly ‘purchased Starlink and are currently unable to register it’ and asking Ukrainians for ‘help’.
The Security Service of Ukraine urges citizens to be vigilant and not to fall for such provocations.
If you have encountered or witnessed such crimes, please report them immediately to the Security Service:
