SSU detains FSB saboteurs who set fire to relay cabinets on Ukrainian railways
As a result of special operations in Kharkiv and Rivne regions, the SSU detained three FSB saboteurs who set fire to relay cabinets on the railroad tracks in both regions.
In this way, russia intended to block the movement of trains towards the front with heavy weapons and ammunition for Ukrainian troops.
The perpetrators used flammable mixtures prepared according to the FSB’s instructions.
In Kharkiv, the SSU detained an enemy saboteur ‘red-handed’ when he tried to destroy a relay cabinet of a railway traffic light on one of the key railways in the region.
According to the SSU Counterintelligence, the attacker is a repeat offender from Odesa who had previously served a sentence for robbery and attempted murder.
After a remote recruitment by the russian service, the man arrived in Kharkiv region to commit the sabotage.
Two other detained individuals are unemployed residents of Rivne, whom the FSB recruited remotely for sabotage.
The agents worked in tandem. One of them set fire to a relay cabinet that controlled the operation of semaphores on a major railway line in this western oblast.
His accomplice filmed the act on his phone camera to send a report to the FSB.
Both men came to the attention of the russian intelligence as active users of russian Telegram channels looking for quick money.
Further communication between the assets and their FSB handlers was through anonymous chats in messenger apps.
In case they fulfil the enemy tasks, the occupiers promised to transfer money to their bank cards.
During the searches, the SSU seized the agents’ mobile phones with evidence of the crimes.
The SSU notified the detainees of suspicion under Article 113.2 of the CCU (sabotage, committed under martial law).
The suspects are in custody and face life imprisonment.
The operations were carried out by the SSU Offices in Kharkiv and Rivne regions under the procedural supervision of regional prosecutor’s offices.
