SSU detains putin’s fan in Prykarpattia
The SSU cyber units detained a resident of Ivano-Frankivsk region who administered a pro-kremlin group in the banned social network Vkontakte.
The aggressor’s fan spread russian disinformation about events at the frontline and praised russia’s top military and political leadership.
He created several anonymous accounts to conceal his criminal actions and massively disseminate destructive content and propaganda, picking it up from kremlin’s central mouthpieces.
The administrator actively left comments in the group, creating the appearance of mass support for kremlin’s propaganda.
He was also able to delete posts and comments from users who challenged pro-russian narratives.
According to the investigation, the offender is a local resident who had previously been repeatedly prosecuted for theft and drug trafficking.
After the start of russia’s full-scale invasion, he supported the invaders and decided to publicly express his anti-Ukrainian views.
During the search at the suspect’s home, the SSU found:
- SIM cards used for logging into anonymous accounts;
- a mobile phone and a computer with evidence of the crime.
SSU investigators served the detained individual a notice of suspicion under Article 436-2.2, 436-2.3 of the CCU (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
The suspect is in custody, facing up to 8 years in prison.
The SSU Office in Ivano-Frankivsk region carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
