SSU detains russian citizen who settled in Donetsk region to ‘visit his daughter’ and adjusted enemy strikes

The SSU has apprehended another agent of russia’s federal security service in Donetsk region. He is a 56-year-old russian citizen who adjusted russian strikes on the locations of the Defence Forces in Lyman sector.

According to the investigation, the agent arrived in Ukraine from moscow a few days before the start of the full-scale war under the guise of visiting his daughter in the village of Rayhorodok, Kramatorsk district.

After 24 February 2022, he lived in the village and tried to lead an inconspicuous life.

In the summer of 2024, the asset was activated by the FSB and was given a task: to reconnoiter the positions of the Defence Forces on the eastern front.

The russian began to walk around the areas near the frontline, tracking the locations of Ukrainian fortifications and artillery.

He summarized the data and periodically sent it to the russian service to prepare air attacks on Ukrainian troops.

The FSB later promised his accomplice to extract him to moscow.

However, the SSU thwarted the enemy plans. The agent was identified, his crimes were documented, and he was apprehended. Simultaneously, action was taken to protect the locations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

During the searches, a mobile phone with evidence of his communication with the FSB was seized.

SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (dissemination of information about the movement, transfer or location of the AFU).

The suspect is in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
