SSU detains arsonists who burned military vehicles in Dnipropetrovsk region on FSB’s order
The Security Service of Ukraine has dismantled a criminal group that carried out arson attacks in Dnipropetrovsk region. The perpetrators acted on the instructions of russia’s federal security service; their main targets were service vehicles of the Defense Forces.
In hot pursuit, the SSU cyber units and investigators apprehended four members of the cell near Pavlohrad.
The enemy accomplices are local residents aged 19 to 25 years old who were looking for ‘quick money’ on Telegram.
There, they were recruited by russia’s FSB, who offered money in exchange for cooperation.
The agents received instructions from their handler on how to make incendiary mixtures and a list of potential targets.
The aggressor was targeting pickup trucks and multivans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that were undergoing maintenance after combat missions on the front line.
The arsonists destroyed two service SUVs of the Defense Forces and were preparing to carry out new assignments from the occupiers.
The SSU detained the suspects at their homes.
Instead of payments from russia, they received notices of suspicion under Articles 28.2, 114-1.1 of the CCU (obstruction of lawful activities of the AFU, committed by a group, upon prior conspiracy).
The suspects are in custody and face up to 8 years in prison.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
