SSU detains FSB informant preparing breakthrough of russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups to Kharkiv region

In Kharkiv region, the Security Service had detained another informant of russia’s federal security service.

The perpetrator was scouting routes for enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups attempting to break through deep into the oblast. The agent’s task was to find and suggest roads that would bypass the defensive positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service.

His other task was to guide russian glide bombs at the positions of the Defense Forces and critical infrastructure in the border areas.

According to the investigation, the enemy agent is a 45-year-old employee of one of the factories in Bohodukhiv district.

Under the cover of work trips, he travelled around the frontline areas near the northern border and filmed the locations of Ukrainian troops on his phone camera.

He marked the coordinates on Google Maps and then sent the screenshots to his FSB handler.

The SSU identified the traitor at the initial stage of his unlawful activities and detained him at his home.

SSU investigators have now served the detainee a notice of suspicion.

The suspect is in custody without bail and faces up to 8 years in prison.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Kharkiv Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
