SSU detains enemy informant in Donetsk region for adjusting russian strikes by voice messages
The SSU Counterintelligence has detained an asset of russian intelligence services who collected intelligence on locations of Ukrainian defenders near Sloviansk.
Primarily, the enemy was interested in information on deployment of the units of the Armed Forces, the SSU and the State Border Guard Service in the frontline area.
To gather intelligence, the spy walked around the city and neighbouring villages and covertly recorded positions of the Defence Forces.
He then transmitted the information to the aggressor through two ‘liaisons’ in the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region.
The latter were a battalion commander of ‘Yenakiyevo-Danube brigade’ and a militant of the ‘motorized rifle regiment’ of russia’s Southern military district.
The enemy informant passed the intelligence in voice messages via a popular messenger app, hoping this method would not attract the law enforcement’s attention.
The SSU Counterintelligence detained the aggressor’s accomplice at his home. During the search, the SSU found a mobile phone with evidence of sabotage activities against Ukraine.
SSU investigators served to the detained individual a notice of suspicion under Article 111-1.7 of the CCU (providing assistance to the armed formations of the aggressor state in conducting military action against the AFU and other military formations).
The court is to decide on custody as a measure of restraint for the suspect, who is facing up to 15 years in prison.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
