Mykolaiv: SSU detains russian informer preparing missile strikes on railway bridges
The SSU detained another informer of russian special services as a result of counterintelligence measures to ensure the functioning of critical infrastructure facilities in Mykolaiv region.
The suspect was preparing a series of russian missile strikes on strategically important transport routes in the region.
In such a way, russian occupiers planned to disrupt the logistics of supplying Ukrainian troops involved in counteroffensive operations.
Fulfilling the enemy's task, the offender tried to identify key railway bridges used to transport the Defense Forces units to the southern front.
To obtain intelligence, the traitor covertly recorded the routes of echelons with AFU military equipment.
He sent georeferenced media files with the approximate number of weapons to russian special service via messenger.
In addition, the spy monitored and reported the aggressor on the consequences of russian missile strikes on the civilian infrastructure of the region.
SSU officers timely exposed the enemy informer, documented criminal actions, and detained him at his home in Mykolaiv.
According to the investigation, the supporter of ruscists was an active user of pro-kremlin Telegram channels, where he regularly posted anti-Ukrainian comments.
The offender came to the attention of enemy special services because of his destructive online activity. Later, he was remotely recruited for collaboration.
During the search of the suspect, the SSU seized a mobile phone which he used to communicate with the aggressor.
Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 (unauthorized dissemination of information on the supply, movement of weapons, armaments, and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, movement or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine) and 436-2.2 (justification, recognition of the legitimacy, denial of the armed aggression of Russia against Ukraine, glorification of its participants) of the CCU.
The suspect is in custody, facing up to 12 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Mykolaiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
