SSU detains russian informant who prepared missile attack on military hospital in Mykolaiv region
The SSU has exposed another agent of enemy intelligence agencies, who was preparing new russian air strikes on Mykolaiv oblast.
To carry out the aggressor’s assignment, the traitor drove in the area and covertly photographed locations of the Defence Forces units.
He also recorded precise coordinates of the identified military facilities on an electronic map and reported to his handlers on the level of their security.
The informant paid special attention to locations where he noticed highest concentration of Ukrainian personnel and military equipment.
The SSU detained the suspect ‘red-handed’ when he was photographing a hospital and a combat unit of the AFU.
A mobile phone with photos ready to be sent to russians was seized from the spy.
According to the investigation, ruscists planned to use these data to carry out targeted air strikes on the region.
The SSU established that the offender was a local resident who supported the sham referendum on Mykolaiv region’s accession to russia. He repeatedly wrote about this in pro-russian Telegram channels.
In this way, the man attracted the attention of russian intelligence and was recruited remotely in the spring of 2022.
Further communication was carried out through one of the messenger apps.
SSU investigators have served the detained individual a notice of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on shipment, transfer of weapons, armaments and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, transfer or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine).
The court chose custody as a measure of restraint for the suspect, who is now facing up to 12 years in prison.
The SSU Office in Mykolaiv region carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
