SSU detains russian informant who set up video traps to spy on AFU convoys

The SSU Military Counterintelligence has detained another enemy informant in Mykolaiv region. The woman was spying on the movement of the Defence Forces armoured vehicles near the front line in southern Ukraine.

To do this, the perpetrator installed camouflaged smartphones with additional power supplies and online access for the russian intelligence services near local motorways.

In this way, the aggressor hoped to track the directions of movement, types of equipment, weapons and approximate numbers of Ukrainian troops in real time.

The agent also periodically travelled around Mykolaiv and its suburbs by taxi to track the locations of the Defence Forces for the ruscists.

She tried to gain trust of Ukrainian defenders, from whom she covertly elicited information on the location of their units.

Using her coordinates, the occupiers planned to carry out combined air strikes using drones, guided aerial bombs and missiles.

The investigation established that russia’s tasks were carried out by a 26-year-old unemployed woman from Mykolaiv, who came to the attention of the russian intelligence on Telegram while looking for easy money.

The SSU Military Counterintelligence identified the traitor, documented her crimes and detained her. Prior to this, spy equipment was dismantled, and action was taken to protect the locations of the Defence Forces.

Two tablets and four smartphones were seized from the suspect: she used them to coordinate her intelligence activities with the russians.

SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information about the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, committed under martial law).

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Mykolaiv region under the procedural supervision of Mykolaiv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Southern Region.
