SSU detains russian informant who helped ruscists break through to Niu York in Donetsk region
The SSU has detained another informant of the russian intelligence who passed locations of the Defence Forces in Donetsk region to the occupiers.
The enemy was primarily interested in combat positions of the Armed Forces heavy artillery, which fires at russian assault groups trying to capture the village of Niu York in Donetsk region.
The woman in question tried to identify coordinates of staffs, strongholds and routes of movement of Ukrainian troops defending the settlement.
The aggressor needed the data to prepare new offensive operations to capture the village, where heavy fighting is currently ongoing.
The SSU apprehended the russian asset in the course of counter-sabotage measures at the frontline, when she tried to evacuate from the village.
According to the investigation, the enemy accomplice is a local resident, an ideological supporter of ruscism.
The woman communicated with the russian intelligence through her husband’s mother, who lives in russia and is in contact with russian intelligence services.
To collect information, the perpetrator regularly walked in the frontline area and covertly recorded the locations of Ukraine’s Defence Forces.
The agent also tried to elicit intelligence from her acquaintances, hoping they would unwittingly provide some data during conversations.
She summarized what she collected, dictated it in voice messages and sent it to her ‘contact’ in russia.
During the detention, the suspect’s mobile phone was seized.
Based on the evidence, SSU investigators served her a notice of suspicion under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on the transfer, movement or location of the AFU).
The suspect is in custody and faces up to 8 years in prison.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
