SSU detains russian informant who spied on Ukrainian defenses in hottest frontline area

The SSU has detained another agent of russian military intelligence in Donetsk region. The perpetrator passed to the aggressor the locations of the defensive lines of the AFU units on Pokrovsk direction.

The enemy was primarily interested in the coordinates of fortifications and combat positions of artillery that keeps the enemy assault groups under fire control.

The ruscists needed information to prepare combat operations to break through Ukrainian defenses in the hottest area of the front.

To gather the intelligence, the aggressor remotely recruited a woman, resident of Novohrodivka.

To carry out the assignment, she walked around the frontline community and recorded the locations of Ukrainian defenders.

The agent also talked to residents of neighboring villages, trying to elicit some information.

She sent the obtained data to the russian handler via a messenger app through a ‘liaison’ – a militant of a russian occupation unit fighting on the eastern front.

The SSU Counterintelligence promptly identified the enemy informant, documented the crime and detained her.

Simultaneously, action was taken to protect the AFU positions.

According to the investigation, the invaders engaged the asset in cooperation in June this year through the Telegram channel, where she, on her own initiative, leaked the locations of the Defense Forces.

During the searches of the suspect’s home, the SSU seized a mobile phone that she used in reconnaissance and sabotage for russia.

SSU investigators notified her of suspicion under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on the movement or location of the AFU).

The suspect is in custody and faces up to 8 years in prison.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
