SSU detains russian intelligence agent who adjusted missile strikes on Izium

In Kharkiv region, the SSU Counterintelligence detained another enemy informant, a woman who collected information on Ukraine’s Defence Forces and adjusted missile strikes.

One of her main tasks was to track the routes of Ukrainian military convoys towards the frontline.

She also tried to identify the areas with large concentrations of Ukrainian defenders and heavy weapons.

The asset also ‘reported’ to the occupiers on the consequences of their air attacks on the region.

The invaders used this data to prepare new and adjust repeated strikes on the eastern region, in particular on the town of Izium.

According to the investigation, the perpetrator is a local resident who had been cooperating with russia’s military intelligence since March 2022.

To recruit her, the GRU used its agent, a militant of the occupation grouping of russia’s Southern military district.

It was he who contacted the woman in the banned Odnoklassniki, and then instructed her to conduct reconnaissance and sabotage.

To collect data, the woman walked in the target areas and asked her friends about the ‘latest news’, hoping they would unwittingly provide some information.

She sent the collected intelligence via a messenger app to the militant, who then ‘reported’ to a serving officer of the main directorate of the general staff of the russian armed forces.

During a search of the suspect’s home, the SSU found a mobile phone with evidence of the crime.

The detainee has been served a notice of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on transfer or deployment of the AFU, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison.

The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
