The Security Service of Ukraine has disclosed a foreigner internationally wanted by Interpol. The offender was detained in the city of Cherkasy during a special operation that took place in the framework of combating international terrorism.

The operatives of the special service established that the foreigner had been hiding on the territory of Ukraine since 2019. In such a way he tried to avoid criminal liability for crimes committed in another state.

Currently, the detainee has been temporarily detained for 40 days and placed in the Cherkasy Detention Facility state institution until a request for his extradition is received from the competent authorities of the state initiating the search.

The operation was carried out by officers of the SBU Offices in Cherkasy and Khmelnytskyi regions under the direct coordination of the SBU Counter-terrorism Department under the procedural guidance of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office.
