SSU detains defense company executives involved in ammunition warehouse explosions in Vyshneve
SSU counterintelligence officers and investigators have detained the head of a defense enterprise and his deputy in charge of production, who allowed ammunition to be stored in warehouses near residential buildings in the city of Vyshneve, Kyiv region.
According to the investigation, on 6 July this year, following a combined russian attack on Kyiv region, a fire broke out at the warehouses of a high-security facility, leading to the detonation of ammunition stored in the hangars.
It has been established that these facilities were not intended for the storage of ammunition and were being used without the necessary permits.
Based on the case materials, this occurred because the company’s chief executive failed to properly organize its production and operational activities and ensure compliance with fire safety requirements and the relevant regulations governing the storage of ammunition and explosive substances.
In addition, his deputy allowed ammunition to be stored in unsuitable warehouses in the immediate proximity of residential areas. This resulted in the deaths and injuries of people, as well as the destruction and damage to civilians’ property.
SSU investigators have served the detainees with a notice of suspicion under Article 367.2 and 367.3 of the CCU (official negligence resulting in grave consequences).
A motion is also being prepared to request that the court impose pretrial detention on the suspects.
The operation was carried out by officers of the SSU Counterintelligence Department and the SSU Main Office in Kyiv and Kyiv Region, under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv Specialized Defense Prosecutor’s Office in the Central Region.
