SSU detains FSB spotter guiding russian Grad systems and FPV drones at Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region

The SSU Counterintelligence has detained another agent of russia’s federal security service in Dnipropetrovsk region. The perpetrator was directing russian strikes with multiple launch rocket systems, artillery, and FPV drones on Nikopol.

As the investigation revealed, the shelling was directed by a local repeat offender recruited by the enemy, who had served a sentence for theft in the mid-1990s.

In the summer of 2025, he was spotted by the russian intelligence operatives due to his posts on Telegram channels in support of the kremlin regime.

Subsequently, an FSB officer contacted the man via messenger and offered money for cooperation.

The agent received his first payment from the ruscists via a drone, which dropped a capsule containing money near his yard.

In return, the suspect tracked the deployment locations of Ukraine’s Defence Forces in the frontline city and the coastal area.

The enemy was interested in the locations of our fortifications and air defence firing positions.

To gather intelligence, the asset also covertly asked acquaintances about the sites of defence facilities and then conducted further reconnaissance.

The Security Service secured the bases of Dnipropetrovsk region defenders and, after documenting the suspect’s actions, detained him.

A smartphone containing evidence of his work for the FSB was seized from him during the search.

SSU investigators notified the detainee of his status as a suspect under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
