The SSU has enhanced counter-sabotage efforts in southern front-line areas and in an operation detained an FSB agent.
The agent turned out to be an official of one of the biggest industrial giants in the region. Since the start of russia’s full-scale aggression, the individual has been collecting intelligence on deployment and movement of Ukrainian Defence Forces in the South.
The agent also recorded geolocations of critical infrastructure and strategic facilities, including Kryvyi Rih International Airport.
He transmitted collected intelligence to occupiers by secure communication channels. His messages included coordinates on electronic maps, detailed descriptions of buildings and surrounding areas as well as photos and video footage of the location and appearance of these facilities.
The enemy used the received information to carry out massive strikes.
The SSU is verifying, among other facts, the suspect’s involvement in adjusting the missile attack on Kryvyi Rih airport on March 10.
According to the investigation, russian special services noticed this individual as he was an active user of anonymous Telegram channels and social networks banned in Ukraine. There, he publicly called to support the invaders and justified their crimes.
During the searches of the suspect’s home, the law enforcement found communication devices he used to contact his russian supervisor. The agent’s texting confirms that he received enemy’s assignments and reported on their execution.
So far, SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion of treason committed under martial law. The court has decided to keep the suspect in custody.
