SSU detains forward observer who adjusted missile strikes on Bakhmut
In a special operation in Donetsk region, the SSU located and detained another agent of russian special services, who conducted reconnaissance and sabotage in the region.
The forward observer adjusted rocket and artillery attacks on Bakhmut infrastructure and then passed information to occupiers on the ‘results’ of their strikes.
The agent informed invaders on the state of critical infrastructure facilities and the internal situation in the town after enemy air strikes.
The offender also drove around the area for covert surveillance of temporary location and movement of Ukrainian troops.
The spy passed the collected intelligence to his russian ‘coordinator’, an employee of russian special services already identified by the SSU.
To communicate with invaders, the agent used an anonymous channel in one of the messenger apps. He transmitted intelligence in the form of media files with detailed descriptions of targets and surrounding areas.
During the detention, a mobile phone with evidence of transmission of classified information to russians was seized from the suspect.
SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion of committing a crime.
The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor’s office.
