SSU detains enemy spotter in Zaporizhzhia posing as elderly person

The Security Service of Ukraine has apprehended another FSB agent who was guiding russian airstrikes at Zaporizhzhia.

To avoid arousing suspicion during reconnaissance missions, the agent posed as an elderly person. He mimicked a stooped posture, grew a beard, and wore appropriate clothing.

As the investigation revealed, the enemy agent turned out to be a 45-year-old local resident who was evading mobilisation. He came to russia’s attention while seeking ‘easy money’ on Telegram.

In exchange for promises of quick payments, he began walking the streets of Zaporizhzhia to identify the coordinates of Defence Forces units.

After his reconnaissance missions, the asset returned home and prepared text messages describing the terrain and coordinates, which he transmitted to his FSB handler.

The SSU documented the suspect’s crimes and detained him. Simultaneously, action was taken to protect the Defence Forces’ locations.

A smartphone and tablet containing evidence of his work for the enemy were seized during the search.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The perpetrator is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
