SSU detains FSB mole who worked at Odesa defense plant to steal latest AFU developments

The SSU Counterintelligence has exposed another attempt of russian special services to gain access to secret Ukrainian developments in the military sphere.

As a result of proactive efforts in Odesa region, a 47-year-old local engineer who was collecting intelligence for russia’s federal security service has been detained.

On occupiers’ orders, the agent was to obtain secret documentation on the manufacture of components for the latest vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

To do this, he got a job at a local plant that executes defense orders.

By this time, the Security Service had already documented every step of the enemy accomplice, after he was identified at the stage of recruitment by the russian special service.

From his first day at the enterprise, the mole tried to gain access to blueprints and technological schemes for the production of spare parts for wheeled vehicles.

To do so, he hid behind his professional duties as an engineer and tried to gain the trust of his colleagues directly involved in the production process.

It was established that the agent also adjusted russian strikes.

To help ruscists evade Ukraine’s air defenses, he traveled in the region and tried to spot air defense positions and radar stations.

The SSU Counterintelligence detained the perpetrator and took action to protect the locations of Ukrainian defenders.

Photos of technical documentation that the traitor planned to pass to the aggressor, as well as other evidence of work for the enemy, were seized during searches.

SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Chernivtsi region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
